The Meeting of the Senior Officials of the Fourth Session of the Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission was held on 6 June 2023, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. The Meeting was Co-Chaired by Her Excellency Dr. Hala Hameed, Secretary, Bilateral at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, and Her Excellency Ms. Yasoja Gunasekera, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.
During the discussions, the two sides deliberated on several bilateral issues of importance to both countries, including trade & investment, defense, tourism, fisheries, education, health, employment, youth, sports and skill development, consular and cultural affairs. Discussions also focused on consular issues and regional and international cooperation.
The Maldives delegation comprised of delegates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage, Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.
Interventions were made by His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Rasheed Ahmed, Minister of State for Education, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Salih, Minister of State for Tourism, His Excellency Ali Nazeer, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr. Shamau Shareef, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Shamun Hameed, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage, Mr. Adam Ziyad, Director General of the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Lieutenant Colonel Ismail Athif, Principal Director, at the Ministry of Defence, Ms. Sonath Abdul Sattar, Senior Policy Director at the Ministry of Higher Education, Mr. Ahmed Ifthikhaar, Director at the Ministry of Economic Development and Ms. Zubaidha Abdul Hameed, Deputy Director at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.
The Ministerial segment of the Fourth Session of the Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission was held today, 7 June 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. The Maldives delegation was led by the His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives and the Sri Lankan delegation was led by His Excellency M.U.M. Ali Sabry.
